MCUThe Modern Churchpeople's Union is an Anglican society which promotes liberal theology. More about what we believe is here. * * * MCU is a membership organisation. It was set up in 1898 for members of the Church of England. Now it is open to anyone who shares its ethos - lay people and clergy, anglicans and non-anglicans, doubters and explorers all welcome. Details of membership can be found here. * * * MCU is a registered charity, governed by an elected Council and Trustees (details are here). Our annual meeting is held each year during the conference and our 2006-7 Annual report is here - in .pdf format). * * * The main activities of the MCU are: An Annual Conference Which has been held at High Leigh each July for many years. Our next conference is Saving the soul of Anglicanism: the nature and future of the Anglican Communion Tuesday 8 - Friday 11 July 2008. The 2009 conference will be on Liberal Theology. PublicationsWe publish Modern Believing - a quarterly academic journal engaging with those active in church ministry and academic theology, and Signs of the Times - MCU members' magazine which is circulated quarterly with Modern Believing. We also keep in touch with members though an email mewsletter. From time to time MCU also publishes books and pamplets and occasional papers on topics of current interest. Local Groups Groups meet from time to time around the country - their meetings, and meetings and conferences of a range of organizations, are on the website calendar.
